Manchester United are continuing to develop under Jose Mourinho as he tries to establish who at the club will be going forward with him and who will be departing.
Reports on Wednesday in the Manchester Evening News suggest United are looking to add to their attacking options and have joined Everton and Manchester City in the race for Ajax youngster Kasper Dolberg.
This is all despite Calciomercato.com reporting that Antoine Griezmann is Manchester United’s main transfer target next summer with a rumoured £100 million bid on the table.
Dolberg has been in sensational form so far this season for Ajax after being spotted by John Steen Olsen, the same Ajax scout who first spotted the talent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to the M.E.N.
The youngster has netted 11 times in 28 appearances this season while providing four assists. Dolberg also made the breakthrough at international level with Denmark last year.
Speaking about the talent he unearthed, Olsen said:
“Kasper is an extraordinary talent. I knew he would be a perfect player for Ajax. Kasper has exceptional qualities: speed, technique, intelligent play and good in the air.”
The player is contracted to Ajax until 2021 but the Amsterdam club are known for selling their young talented players over the years without putting up too much resistance.
Manchester United have already offloaded Morgan Schneiderlin to Everton and are in negotiations to sell Memphis Depay to Lyon after both players, who signed under former boss Louis van Gaal, failed to impress Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese boss will be eager to move on the players he considers dead wood if he is to sign both Griezmann and Dolberg, as the ex-Chelsea boss is known for his desire to work with a smaller squad.
