Manchester United Lauded After Draw With Relegation Placed Newcastle

during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle United and Manchester United at St James' Park on January 12, 2016 at Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

Well, that was an odd one…

Manchester United headed to St James’ Park this evening with many suspecting that Louis van Gaal’s job would be under serious threat should they fail to secure three points against a Newcastle side in the midst of a genuine relegation battle.

However, 90 minutes later, United trundled out of the ground with a point… to rapturous applause. Well, maybe not rapturous applause but there was certainly a lot of praise being flung in their direction.

Having gone two nil up at St James’ Park, a duel that many are calling the game of the season so far finished up as a 3-3 draw after an incredible exhibition of end-to-end football.

Having been slated for their performance after a win against Sheffield United over the weekend however, Van Gaal and his Manchester United side were largely praised this evening for finally playing football that resembled the United of old.
