Manchester United Keeper Targeted By Spanish Giants

Manchester United net minder David De Gea has been targeted as a possible future replacement for Iker Casillas at Real Madrid.

The European champions are hoping to land De Gea who is out of contract in 2016, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

David De Gea was named as United’s player of the year last term. The Spain international was the first goalkeeper to be awarded the honour at the club and this acclaim from within as well as outside United is inevitably going to spark interest among Europe’s big guns.

When Madrid come calling it can be difficult for players to deny themselves an opportunity of playing at the Bernabéu so Louis Van Gaal should now be aiming to tie down his best shot stopper who is only contracted until 2016. A new deal should at least be in the pipeline if they wish to stave off interest from one of European football’s giants.

The Old Trafford keeper has put in some massive performances already this campaign to keep out almost certain goals. De Gea’s heroics in United’s 2-1 win over Everton just before the international break being the standout performance as he kept his side in the lead and helped push the Red Devils up to fourth place in the Premier League table.

De Gea’s seven appearances in the league have been vital to United’s improvements game on game since their poor opening to the season and he would be a massive loss to United if he was to return to his native city to ply his trade.
