Marca have claimed that Manchester United have until the end of the month to complete the €120m signing of Paul Pogba from Juventus.
United’s chase of the Frenchman has dominated headlines for weeks but according to the Spanish new outlet, his agent Mino Raiola has issued a deadline for Jose Mourinho’s side to convince both Pogba and Juventus.
Jose Felix Diaz of Marca said:
Pogba is currently on holiday in Los Angeles and from there he is in constant contact with his agent Mino Raiola – who, MARCA has learned, has set a deadline of the end of July for sorting out the player’s future.
Marca does, however, give substance to the rumours that Real Madrid have cooled their interest in the midfielder, citing his below-par performances at Euro 2016 for France as the reason why.
With the majority of Europe’s top clubs either unwilling or unable to match Juventus’s asking price, it appears that Manchester United are the sole club with a genuine interest of signing the 23-year-old.
Pogba’s inability to play in a deeper role for France during the European Championships is a cause of major concern for Real Madrid and it should worry officials at Old Trafford as well.
With a reported valuation of €120m, it is not unjustified for Pogba’s potential new club to expect him to be utilised in multiple midfield positions if necessary.
Juventus are keen for Pogba to remain in Turin and are willing to restructure his contract, but it remains to be seen if he is willing to stay in Italy for another season.
Yesterday at an ESPN event, Pogba described United as his ‘first family’ and refused to commit his future to Juventus.
“I don’t know. Let’s see, let’s see. For the moment, I am here [Juventus] and I am happy here, but I don’t know where I want to go.”
It looks like this story is in its final chapter.
