Manchester United Fans Go Into Meltdown Over Reports Louis Van Gaal Could Be Staying

A report in De Telegraaf today shattered the dreams of millions of Manchester United fans when they alleged that manager Louis van Gaal looks likely to be allowed to see out the final year of his contract.

Whether the information proves to be entirely accurate or not, the source is solid. Reputable journalist Olver Kay of the Times backed up the reporter in question as being well-connected and reliable.

Naturally, this story directly contradicts the theory that José Mourinho was biding his time until van Gaal was unceremoniously pushed out the car door while Ed Woodward sped off into the night, leaving the seat free for the ex-Chelsea manager to take over in the summer.

As the story broke today – or, more accurately, as soon as journalists like Kay gave it more credibility for an English audience – the panic began to set in.

Logical gymnastics were on show in abundance as many Manchester United fans tried to convince themselves and those around them that there was nothing to this story, while many others immediately hit meltdown mode.
