After another woeful performance and frustrating result for Manchester United, the club’s faithful are due some good news.
If last night’s reports claiming Antoine Griezmann had agreed a deal to join the club in the summer weren’t enough, the club have just confirmed one of the most exciting prospects at the club has earned a new contract.
A new #MUFC contract for Axel Tuanzebe!

Axel Tuanzebe, captain of the reserve side, has shone at the heart of Nicky Butt’s backline this season and was handed an overdue first team debut last week, coming off the bench against Wigan.
The Congo-born defender told the club’s official website after putting pen to paper:
“I have always been a Manchester United supporter so I am naturally delighted to have signed a new contract. To make my debut at Old Trafford in the FA Cup was a very proud moment, both for me and for my family.”
Tuanzebe, still just 19, replaced fellow academy graduate Timothy Fosu-Mensah as he made his debut against the Championship side, managed by Warren Joyce, the man who had influenced the youngster’s development more than most.
“I am learning every day in training and it is also a great experience for me to now train with the first team. I would like to thank all of the coaches that I have worked with and I would especially like to thank the manager for giving me my debut for this great club.”
Jose Mourinho complimented his centre-back’s transition into the first team:
“Axel is a young player with great potential. We brought him up to the first team to give him more experience and he has adapted really well.”
With a congested fixture list ahead for United, an extra body to call upon could prove very important as the games come quick and fast this month. Regardless of the Special One’s reluctance to trust youth players, Tuanzebe’s prodigious talents will make calling upon him unavoidable.
