As Paul Pogba slowly edges towards an incredible return to Old Trafford, Manchester United are apparently considering a shock move for Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas.
According to Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror, Jose Mourinho is ready to bid for the former Barcelona star.
“New Manchester United boss Mourinho is waiting to find out whether the Spaniard survives Antonio Conte’s shake-up, with the incoming Stamford Bridge manager closing in on Leicester’s N’Golo Kante.”
Lewis also adds that Mourinho still maintains a good relationship with Fabregas despite his sub-par performances going a long way to costing the the Special One his Chelsea job.
The twenty-nine-year-old spent eight years at Arsenal making over 200 appearances for the Gunners, eventually earning himself a move to Barcelona. An inconsistent spell for La Blaugrana saw him return to English football with the Blues.
While Fabregas is an excellent player and one of the most experienced around, this switch doesn’t seem like the most plausible rumour going. Mourinho has clearly stated that he only intends on bringing one more signing to his new club and it’s no secret who that man is.
