Having already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Paris Saint Germain on a free in the summer, Manchester United are again looking to the French capital for more firepower it seems.
According to The Express, United are looking at bringing in Edinson Cavani if he cannot strike a deal with his current club. The report states that the Ligue 1 giants have put forward a new three-year deal – which would eclipse his current contract which lasts until 2018 – to the striker but he is yet to agree anything.
While he may simply be stalling to get himself a better deal, this could potentially bring about a huge signing for United, who have not looked all that fearsome in front of goal this campaign so far, even with the likes of Ibrahimovic on board.
The same cannot be said for the Uruguay international however, who has netted the most goals of any striker in Europe’s top five leagues (England, Spain, France, Italy and Germany) this season.
Edinson Cavani has now scored more goals (16) than any other player in Europe’s top 5 leagues this season.

Having scored 19 goals in the league last season in total this is an outstanding statistic, particularly when you place it alongside six goals in the Champions League this term.
Having cost PSG £54.3 million and aged 29, he may not exactly be the best long-term prospect for United but working alongside his old teammate, Ibrahimovic, could pay dividends should United make a successful advance for the frontman.
