While it was the lack of goals that plagued Louis van Gaal’s time at United, Jose Mourinho seemingly wants to ensure his team doesn’t concede too many.
After already bringing in Eric Bailly from Villareal, it now appears he could further add to his options at the back by bringing Gerard Pique backed to the Theatre of Dreams.
According to Ladbrokes, the odds of the Spanish international completing a sensational return have plummeted from 16/1 to 10/1 as a flurry of bets came in.
They are now the clear favourites to complete the deal, here’s how Ladbrokes have it priced:
Manchester United – 10/1
Manchester City – 14/1
PSG – 16/1
Paul Pogba may not be the only familiar face arriving on Sir Matt Busby Way this summer. Pique made his debut for United back in 2004 and went on to make 23 appearances for the club. He left for La Blaugrana in 2008, a move that now represents one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s worst decisions.
At the Nou Camp, he flourished, winning six league titles and three Champions League medals. His current contract runs out in 2019.
At 29, Pique has a tremendous level amount of experience but may not have too many years at the top level left in him.
