Manchester United Are Still In Sixth Place, And Twitter Finds It Hilarious

Manchester United picked up a milestone victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon, becoming the first club to reach 2,000 Premier League points.

However, they still finished the day in sixth position after Liverpool beat Tottenham to prevent the Red Devils leapfrogging them into fifth.

Goals from Juan Mata and Anthony Martial at Old Trafford extended United’s unbeaten run to 16 games. It moved them to just two points off second and within touching distance of a Champions League place. What it didn’t do was move them out of sixth position for longer than a couple of hours.

Sixth is where Jose Mourinho’s team have sat in the league table since victory over Swansea on November 6 2016 – that’s a total of 14 weeks in the same position, and Twitter users have posted some hilarious reactions.

With their next Premier League game scheduled for March 4 and seventh-placed Everton too far behind to leapfrog them, they are guaranteed to be sixth for at least another 20 days.

If they continue their brilliant run of form, Mourinho will be confident of a top four finish, but for now they are the cause of amusement to internet users everywhere.
