Manchester City are closing in on another summer signing.
Having beaten off competition from a number of European clubs, including rivals Manchester United, Man City are closing in on deal for Colombian sensation Marlos Moreno – but he will continue his development elsewhere.
The Mirror are this evening reporting that while an £8.2m deal will be concluded in the near future, the 19 year old will be immediately loaned out to La Liga side Deportivo La Coruña.
The highly-rated forward had something of a breakout term last season for Atlético Macional, scoring five goals and playing an important role in his side’s run to the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores.
He made his debut the Colombian national team last February, and has since appeared seven times for his country. He was named by manager José Pékerman in his squad for the recent Copa América, wherein he scored a consolation goal in a 3-2 defeat to Costa Rica.
Once the deal is finalised, Moreno will become Pep Guardiola’s fifth signing since taking charge at Manchester City, following the earlier arrivals of Ilay Gundogan, Nolito, Aaron Mooy and Olksandr Zinchenko.
The report states that Moreno will sign a five-year deal at the Etihad before departing for his temporary move to Spain soon after.
