Pep Guardiola has lured Palmeiras forward Gabriel Jesus to Man City, beating off competition from rivals Manchester United and Barcelona for his signature.
According to Sky Sports, the deal will be completed within the next twenty-four hours, whilst Colombian talent Marlos Moreno is also set to become a Citizen.
City were not even mentioned in AS’s report of the clubs interested in signing Jesus last month, which included Barcelona, Bayern and Manchester United as well as Real.
19-year-old Jesus is said to be joining Pep Guardiola’s side because of the club’s new manager.
Leroy Sane, who signed from Schalke for €37m in a five-year deal yesterday, also cited Guardiola as the main reason as to why Manchester is his next destination.
Jesus is reportedly staying with Palmeiras until the end of the Brazilian season on December 4th, and has scored 19 goals in 30 games for his club during the current campaign.
The forward will appear at the Rio Olympic Games this month for Brazil in what will be a great opportunity for Man City fans to view the exciting prospect for the first time.
Meanwhile, City will also complete the signing of Marlos Moreno, also 19, from Colombian side Atletico Nacional within the next few days.
Moreno is another player that Jose Mourinho had been interested in acquiring, but City have moved much faster to complete the signing of the striker.
Sky report that Moreno’s agent Eladio Tamayo has claimed that the deal has already been finalised.
“I will travel with Marlos on Saturday to sign a contract with Manchester City,” he told Colombian website Futbolred.
“He will then go on loan to Deportivo La Coruna for a year.”
Jesus and Moreno will become Guardiola’s fourth and fifth major signings of the summer following transfers for Nolito, Ilkay Gündogan and Sane.
