Following Pep Guardiola’s appointment as the new manager of Manchester City, many believed that the multi Champions League winning coach would look to splurge in the summer transfer window in an effort to rebuild an aging City side…
As it transpires, it didn’t take very long for Guardiola to begin that very process. Just two days into June and City have already announced a massive summer signing in form of Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan.

Having spent over five years at the Westfalenstadion, the 25-year-old midfielder was keen to leave his former club on good terms however and, writing on his official social page, Gundogan left a heartfelt goodbye to the side and group of fans he’s left behind.
Despite struggling with several serious injuries over the past few seasons, Gundogan is still viewed as one of the most highly regarded central midfielders to have emerged in the Bundesliga in some time and should prove to be a hugely successful signing for Guardiola’s new side.

Ilkay Gundogan is Owen Hargreaves with Turkish parents. A German Aquilani if Arsenal signed him he wouldn't kick a ball for two seasons

United fans acting like Gündogan with a disclocated kneecap wouldn't walk (or hobble) into their starting lineup.
