Done Deal: Manchester United Confirm The Signing Of Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United have officially confirmed the signing of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean international has officially signed on the dotted line at Old Trafford and leaves the Emirates after a three-and-a-half year spell with Arsene Wenger’s side.

Sanchez had been determined to leave Arsenal this season as he became more and more frustrated with their failure to mount a sustained Premier League title challenge. He looked set to join Manchester City either in January or on a free transfer in the summer, but failure to finalise personal terms allowed rivals Man United to steal a march on the player’s signature.

The former Barcelona man expressed his excitement at joining his new club to the Man United website:

“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world. I have spent three-and-a-half wonderful years at Arsenal and I bring with me very positive memories of that great club and its fans. The chance to play in this historic stadium and to work with Jose Mourinho was something I could not turn down.

“I am very proud to be the first Chilean player ever to play for United’s first team and I hope I can show our fans all around the world why the club wanted to bring me here.”

All going well, Sanchez should make his Man United debut in this weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round clash away at Yeovil Town, as his exclusion from the Arsenal squad in the third round means he is not cup-tied.
