Today’s clash with Chelsea represents a make-or-break moment in Manchester United’s quest for Champions League qualification.
Jose Mourinho admitted himself in midweek that a loss would end all hope of securing passage to Europe’s premier club competition in the traditional way. Winning the Europa League is still. of course, a very real possibility.
With the exception of the unstoppable Spurs, Chelsea are the toughest team in the country to face right now. A win would be absolutely huge but it’s difficult to foresee a way in which the Reds get past Antonio Conte’s side.
The teams have been released for the big game and the major takeaway is scarcely believable.

For the most important game of the season, Mourinho has dropped his most trusted lieutenant, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. While it seems to be in preparation for Thursday’s game with Anderlecht, it’s still a massive shock.
Man United fans have been quick to react on Twitter to the decision.
No one was waiting for that.
