Manchester City have named young Irish defender Tyreke Wilson in the squad for their upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.
With a number of the regular first-teamers given time off following their World Cup exploits, Man City manager Pep Guardiola has chosen to bring a handful of the club’s youth prospects along for the tour – including 18-year-old left-back Wilson.

Wilson will join the likes of Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sane, new signing Riyad Mahrez and surprise inclusion Joe Hart on the tour, while players such as Raheem Sterling, John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and captain Vincent Kompany have been rested.
Wilson, an Ireland under-19 international, made the move to Man City from Cherry Orchard in 2016. He made a handful of appearances in the Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League last season (having been a regular in the under-18 setup), and will be hoping to catch the attention of Guardiola in a three-game series that will see the side take on Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich as part of the International Champions Cup.
Wilson previously trained with the Man City first team in 2017, so will be somewhat prepared for the step-up in quality.
