Man City Set To Beat Man United To The Signing Of Colombian Wonderkid

Man United

Man City have edged ahead of Man United in the race for Colombia’s teen sensation Marlos Moreno, according to Express and the Daily Mail.

The 19-year-old Atletico Nacional star has been subject of interest from both Manchester clubs as well as Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, but according to reports, it is Pep Guardiola’s side who have clinched an £8m deal with the Colombian side to take the youngster to the Etihad.

Guardiola has vast experience when it comes to developing young players and apparently feels Moreno’s career would benefit most from a spell on loan in La Liga should he sign with the Citizens.

Moreno was handed his senior international debut in his country’s 3-2 2018 World Cup qualifier win over Bolivia in March, and scored his first Colombia goal against Costa Rica, having made seven appearances to date.

Nacional have already rejected a bid from Sporting Lisbon, stating the offer was not attractive enough for the club or the player, whilst the Mail also reported that Barcelona have sent scouts to Colombia to monitor the youngster’s progress.

Quick, strong and boasting impressive accuracy, Moreno could be a brilliant signing for Guardiola in years to come.
