Bitter rivals Man City and Man Utd are set to fight for Schalke’s sensational winger Leroy Sané.
This is according to the ESPN, who claim Bayern Munich are also intensely interested in the 20-year-old.
A man who plays best as an attacker on the right-hand side of the pitch, Sané rose in profile when he scored against Real Madrid in a thrilling Champions League game last year for Schalke, and the prodigious talent’s ability has developed ever since.
Although the £40m price tag placed upon his head is an inflated amount, the valuation Schalke has put on their young prodigy portrays how highly thought of he is at the Veltins Arena.
It is understandable why Manchester City would want to secure Sané’s signing. With Raheem Sterling and Jesus Navas both underwhelming last season, the addition of Sané would bring a spark into Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Citizen’s forwards Sergio Agüero and Kelechi Iheanacho would also relish the delivery Sané would be able to provide, in contrast to the club’s current wingers.
Pep Guardiola is of course very knowledgeable of Sané’s precocious ability, as the winger appeared in the Bundesliga against Guardiola in 2015/16.
At the same time, the boost Sané would give to Jose Mourinho and Manchester United would introduce more variety into their attacking plays, which were at times predictable under Louis van Gaal.
With Guardiola’s former employers lurking, the Manchester clubs will want to enter negotiations as soon as possible.
For us, the appeal of Pep Guardiola could well be the deciding factor in Sané’s next destination.
