According to respected Spain-based football journalist Graham Hunter, Angel Di Maria has been promised more playing time by Louis van Gaal and has been asked to stay on by the Manchester United boss.
Di Maria found times tough in Manchester last season, particularly during the latter stages of the season in which his time on the pitch was less than consistent.
Speaking to Argentinian outlet Ole (via ibtimes.co.uk) last month he revealed how difficult last season had become.
“Yes. For me, and my family [life in England has affected me]. Because not everything goes as I want, because I don’t play. Because I came with an intention and end up on the bench. It’s hard to tell how I feel there.”
“I started well, with goals and assists. I was having a good time, until I was out. It’s a little hard to explain why I do not play.”
Having started off brilliantly at United with three goals and three assists in his first five games, Di Maria failed to replicate this type of form in the second half of the season and those early goals were to be his only three of the entire league campaign. He was also only in the starting XI on 20 occasions.
The tweet below by Graham Hunter (via 101greatgoals.com) now indicates however that we may be seeing more of Di Maria next season while also allaying fears of a move elsewhere, with PSG in particular having looked like the number one mooted destination for the 27-year-old.
