Lucas Perez has assured Arsenal fans he doesn’t believe that team-mate Mesut Ozil wants a return to La Liga in the near future.
Despite his excellent performances, there are concerns that the German’s mind lies other than at the Emirates, with rumours linking him with a return to Real Madrid.
Ozil’s current deal runs out in 2018, but Perez is confident he will extend his stay in London.
‘No, I don’t think Ozil wants to return to Spain,’ he told Onda Cero.
‘You never know: Real Madrid is a big club – but so is Arsenal.’
Ozil has been in phenomenal form for the Gunners this season, netting his first ever career hat-trick against Ludogorets in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Those three goals were no freak moment for the 28-year-old either, with the playmaker scoring five goals in his last five games.
Ozil is not the only Arsenal star yet to agree to an extension however, with Alexis Sanchez also reluctant to put pen to paper.
Although it looks like good news when it comes to Hector Bellerin, who told a fan that he would not answer the phone if Barcelona came calling yesterday.
The club face Middlesbrough this weekend, with a chance of sitting on top of the table come Sunday evening.
