Bray Wanderers welcome Derry City to the Carlisle Grounds tonight for this re-arranged SSE Airtricity League game due to Derry’s involvement in the FAI Ford Cup semi-final this coming weekend.
Bray managed to hold City to a scoreless draw the last time the two sides met earlier this season in the Carlisle Grounds. Alan Mathews has no injury concerns ahead of this game, however he will have to plan without the suspended duo of Shane O’Connor and Ismahil Akinade.
Speaking to braywanderers.ie before this evening’s game, Mathews had the following to say:
“We will take great confidence from Friday’s game in Drogheda and we will look to take that into Tuesday’s game.”
Derry on the other hand have a few injury concerns ahead of the game with Danny Ventre, Stephen Dooley, Barry Molloy and Patrick McEleney all set to miss out.
Speaking to local newspaper the Derry Journal before the game, City manager Peter Hutton had the following to say:
“We do have a few injury worries and I think it’s fair to say that those carrying knocks will not be risked in the game against Bray.
“However, we will have a look at things in advance of the kick-off and see how we are fixed.
“That said, the full squad will travel and while I do not like the term ‘resting players,’ unless they are injured or suspended, we will also have a strong substitutes’ bench available.”
“The game in Bray is a fixture I want to win as we hope to finish fifth in the league table and it’s also worth nothing that both Bohemians and Drogheda are just one point behind us at the moment”.
