Liverpool’s Top Transfer Target Urged To Leave Current Team By Club CEO

Having just missed out on Europa League glory, Jurgen Klopp is looking to take Liverpool back to the summit of European football with some major transfers this summer.

Having already completed a deal for Mainz goalkeeper Loris Karius, several reports yesterday claimed that the Reds were also on the fringe of completing a major €60m acquisition in the form of Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.

However, as far as fans of the Kop side are concerned, the name that still sits at the top of Klopp’s wishlist is World Cup winning midfielder Mario Götze.

Having already enjoyed a very successful spell under Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, rumours connecting Götze with a move to Anfield have been rife for some time with many feeling that the pair are destined to reunite this summer in Liverpool.

However, speaking earlier this week, Götze seemed to quash any talk of a move as he stated that he is looking forward to playing under new Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti in the Bundesliga next season.

Speaking to Bild, Götze said:

“I look forward to the new season in Munich and will do everything possible to be in top shape for my first training session under (new coach) Carlo Ancelotti.”

It seems Gotze isn’t the master of his own faith however as Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge gave an interview on Wednesday evening in which he effectively stated that Gotze is for sale and that the club are looking to offload him this summer.

“We made everything clear to Mario,” said Rummenigge speaking to Kicker. “He knows what the club thinks and he knows what the future coach thinks.”

“Mario has to consider for himself whether he wants to constantly get minutes.”

This one is far from a done deal but with this latest turn of events, it now seems extremely likely that Klopp’s men will be able to poach Gotze this summer unless another side should swoop in and snatch him.
