Liverpool Team News: Klopp Springs A Surprise Up Front

LONDON, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 09: Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool (2L) celebrates with team mates as he scores their first and equalising goal during the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round Replay match between West Ham United and Liverpool at Boleyn Ground on February 9, 2016 in London, England. (

Guess who’s back, Liverpool fans?

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has made nine changes from the midweek defeat to West Ham, but it is the inclusion of one man in particular that has Reds fans eagerly anticipating today’s clash with Aston Villa.

Are you ready?

Daniel Sturridge starts.

It’s Sturridge’s first Premier League start since way back in October, the 1-1 draw with Everton which was to be Brendan Rodgers’ final game in charge of the club.

Retaining his place is Phillipe Coutinho, whose clever free kick levelled the match on Tuesday and brought it to extra time. Simon Mignolet also keeps his place, as expected.

Returning are regulars Nathaniel Clyne, Kolo Touré, Mamadou Sakho, Alberto Moreno, Emre Can, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Roberto Firmino in a strong Liverpool line-up.

The Reds are without the injured Adam Lallana and Lucas Leiva, however.

The Aston Villa team, meanwhile, is as follows:

Gabby Agbonlahor keeps his place up front following his goalscoring part in last weekend’s vital 2-0 win at home to Norwich.
