Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is on the verge of committing his long-term future to the club and should receive a huge pay rise.
England striker Sturridge has been a revelation since his arrival from Chelsea in January 2013, bagging 36 goals in 52 games in the famous red jersey and was sorely missed during Liverpool’s defeat to Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
This season Sturridge carries the additional responsibility of being the focal point of the attack following Luis Suarez’s summer departure and Brendan Rodgers will obviously be very keen to hang on to his man.
The Guardian reports that a new contract is almost in the bag. The deal could be worth up to £150,000-a-week if the performance related targets are met, this paycheck would put him in the same scale as club legend Steven Gerrard.
