Liverpool & PSG Discuss Transfer Of France Defender To Anfield

Liverpool are reported to have held talks with PSG concerning talented left-back Lucas Digne.

The French international, according to the Daily Mail, has previously been reported as ‘desperately’ wanting to leave the French club, although PSG manager Laurent Blanc wants to hold on to the young defender, telling L’Équipe,

“He is with us, he is very professional, he trains very well and has prepared excellently. This is a good thing for him and possibly for us, should he stay with us this season.”

Despite this, even being with a club which competes regularly in the Champions League, leaving for Liverpool would still be a massive opportunity for a young player like Digne.

The 22-year-old made just 15 Ligue 1 appearances last season, being confined to the bench for the vast majority of PSG’s season.

Having signed for £10.5 million two years ago from fellow French club Lille, the defender is clearly well thought of within France. His international debut at the age of just 20 is testament to this. He has since picked up a further seven international caps for Les Bleus.

It could be a risk to join the Reds if first team action is what he is looking for, with Alberto Moreno currently Liverpool’s mainstay at left-back, but some healthy competition in defence would do no harm to Liverpool’s hopes of improving on the 48 league goals they shipped last term.

With the ex-Lille man apparently looking for a move away and the Reds in the market for a defender, there is every possibility a deal could be struck to bring Digne to Anfield.
