With Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge injured, Liverpool striker Divock Origi was handed a chance to impress against Bournemouth on Sunday.
The Belgian international has had to remain patient this season while Liverpool’s front three have been in tremendous form, but Origi has been in the goals himself recently with two in his last two games.
As such, the 21-year-old was handed a start at the Vitality Stadium, though he really should have made the most of it early on.
With Liverpool starting well, they had a glorious chance to open their account for the afternoon, as Natheniel Clyne’s ball across the home side’s box was met by the forward, only for his to happen:

Not only did Origi completely mishit the ball, but also manage to trip over his own feet in the process.
Thankfully for the striker it did nothing to affect his confidence. With Liverpool already 1-0 up thanks to Sadio Mané, Origi doubled his side’s advantage soon after with this well-taken effort, rounding Artur Boruc before finding the net from an extremely tight angle:

2 – Divock Origi has scored in back to back Premier League games for the very first time. Flourish.

Origi has been earmarked by Klopp as having a big future at Liverpool, and if the Belgian can keep up his goalscoring form then Coutinho and Sturridge’s absences may not be as damaging as previously feared.
