Rumours in the press today suggest that Liverpool may target Marek Hamsik, Andre-Pierre Gignac and Demarai Gray in the January transfer window.
With Liverpool failing to fire at the start of the season, the press are already speculating about Brendan Rodgers’ transfer targets for the January window. Napoli’s Marek Hamsik is one name that has been bandied about, with The Express reporting rumours that the Reds are considering a move for the Slovak attacking midfielder.
Napoli have had an indifferent start to the season, crashing out of the Champions League in August and struggling for form in Serie A,. The current state of affairs could lead to Hamsik looking elsewhere. While the player claims to be content with life at the Serie A outfit, he hinted a move might be possible in an ambiguous quote.
“It is possible that I can stay at Napoli for my entire career, I am happy here but in football you never know. As long as I am happy and I feel important I will stay here because I have no reason to change. Each day I hear from the fans talk of the Scudetto – we have to try at all costs, but no-one will know if we can succeed – we have to wait.”
If Hamsik does look for a move away, Manchester United and Chelsea would also be in the race to secure his signature.
French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, could be another player on his way to Anfield according to The Mirror. The Marseilles man has an excellent goalscoring record having bagged 22 goals last term and already netted 8 times this season.
Brendan Rodgers may be able to get a bargain here as the 28-year-old has not signed a new contract and his current deal expires in the summer, leaving the Ligue 1 club in a very weak negotiating position.
The Sun reports that Liverpool have an agreement in place to sign Demarai Gray, the 18-year-old Birmingham City starlet, should they match the best offer received by Championship side. The arrangement was made between the two clubs when Liverpool player Jordan Ibe went on loan to the midlands outfit last season. Gray is an exciting winger who has just broken into the Blues starting line up and already found the net this season.
