Liverpool Linked With £15.7 Million-Rated Attacking Midfielder

Liverpool finished just outside the Premier League’s European places last season so it’s no surprise Jurgen Klopp has already got to work clearing out who he deems surplus to requirements.

In tandem with this process comes the acquisition of new players and one man the Reds have their eye on, according to Foot Mercato (via the Daily Express), is Lille attacking midfielder Sofiane Boufal.

The Morocco international has also been linked with European giants Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund meaning a fee of around £15.7 million would be needed before the Ligue 1 club consider playing ball.

While the fee may seem a little steep, even by today’s standards, Boufal has impressed this past season, netting eleven goals in just 29 Ligue 1 games. This stat alone is hardly going to make Reds fans fall out of their seat with excitement but Lille, who finished fifth last term, did only score 39 league goals in total – making the 22-year-old’s tally a stand out figure.

Despite this, the rigours of the Premier League are in vast contrast to that of France’s top tier. With a rebuilding job to do, Klopp will have no choice but to sign at least one or two unknown quantities, however with Champions League football the most obvious next goal, it becomes difficult to see where Boufal can improve on what’s gone before.

The youngster has plenty of time left in his career to prove that he could make an impact on a bigger stage. Whether that’s in England, Germany, Italy or elsewhere remains to be seen, however.
