Liverpool’s Danny Ings has suffered another catastrophic blow to his Anfield career.
The forward had not trained since that win, and scans have since shown that the injury is much more serious than was first thought.
Ings missed the majority of last season having suffered a cruciate knee injury in manager Jürgen Klopp’s very first training session in charge of the club last October.
While he still some way into his recovery, his form for the under-23s recently had been fantastic. Indeed, Klopp is a big fan if the England international and he was inching ever closer to forcing his way into the boss’s first team plans.
However, the reports stress that it is not the same injury as that which he suffered last season, alleviating fears that this could be a recurring problem. Indeed, this is simply down to a case of extreme misfortune.
Ings has become a hugely popular figure at Anfield despite the lack of game time thus far, and as such Liverpool fans have been quick to take to social media to wish the striker a full and speedy recovery:

Devastating news about @IngsDanny. Sure he’ll come back stronger. Stay strong mate.

Liverpool have since confirmed the injury, and Klopp’s affinity for Ings would suggest that the player should still maintain the light at the end of the tunnel.
