Liverpool Agree World-Record Fee For Goalkeeper Alisson Becker

Liverpool have come back to Roma with a higher offer in order to secure the services of goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

The Premier League side have gone all in on the Brazilian international – and although their opening offer of £62m wasn’t high enough, they have come back with a higher offer that has matched Roma’s £66m valuation of the player.

The reports insist that other clubs (i.e. Chelsea) could still come in and match the offer, but the 25-year-old is now free to talk to Liverpool regarding a transfer for what will be a world-record fee for a goalkeeper.

The spectre of Chelsea, however, is still hanging over this deal, and could partly be why Liverpool have moved are moving so fast in lodging a higher offer so soon after the first.  The Blues are set to lose goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the coming days, and while they had also registered their interest in Alisson, they are yet to go to Roma with an official offer.

If that remains the case, Alisson will almost certainly become a Liverpool player in the very near future pending the results of a medical and contract negotiations.
