Liverpool suffered a two nil defeat at the hands of Burnley.
After a brilliant opening day performance that saw Liverpool defeat Arsenal 4-3 at the Emirates Stadium, fans of the Reds were expecting their side to brush aside Burnley earlier today.
However, as was the case last weekend, Liverpool’s defence was once exposed against Burnley. Indeed, despite dictating the play for long periods, the home side managed to steer home two of their two shots at goal.

Despite their lack of activity in front of goal, Burnley managed to cause Liverpool’s defence a great deal of trouble, with James Milner, Dejan Lovern, Ragnar Klavan, and Nathaniel Clyne looking uncomfortable throughout.
Liverpool’s back four of Clyne, Klavan, Lovren & Milner won just ONE tackle in the first half.

Nevertheless, as Liverpool are one of the most inconsistent teams in the Premier League, some were not only able to predict the result of today’s game, but the scoreline in the immediate aftermath of their victory over Arsenal
Liverpool will win this and then probably lose 2-0 away at Burnley next weekend. Just the sort of team they’ve got.

Liverpool fans though did not see the funny side of their team’s inconsistent form, and instead lambasted both Lovern and Klavan on twitter.
Lovren-Klavan partnership were really poor. It’s Klavan obviously, poor performance in the 1st half .

Look so awful at the back, Klavan and Lovren is not a partnership and Milner is not a left back. Just so make-shift

At this rate id rather have a 38 year old, retired, Jamie Carragher at the back on his own than Klavan and Lovren #LFC

I still think Lovern is suspect, Klavan isn’t a starting CB in my opinion. Where’s Sakho? Klopp needs to get him playing asap.

#LFC Klavan having a nightmare start. AWOL for the goal & Lovern saved his butt 2 mins later.
