Liverpool have failed in a move to sign Gremio’s Brazilian forward Luan Vieira, according to Express.
Vieira scored seventeen goals for the Brazilian club and has been impressing Premier League scouts.
Spanish newspaper Sport have also now claimed that Gremio had turned down an approach from Liverpool for the 23-year-old earlier this summer.
Vieira has ben scouted ‘several times’ by Liverpool scouts last season in an effort to decide whether Jürgen Klopp’s side would have need of him.
Express also claim that Premier League champions Leicester City sent a representative to Brazil to discuss a possible move to bring the player to the King Power stadium last month.
Vieira is said to be valued at £20m, and has scored thirty goals in one hundred and twenty games for Gremio since joining in 2014.
Meanwhile, a move for Koln’s Jonas Hector appears to have edged closer, as the Guardian seem to suggest. The left-footed defender is capable of playing at both centre-back and left-back and impressed for Germany during the European Championships.
Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat highlighted the gaps in Liverpool’s defence, and Alberto Moreno’s injury means that a new player in his position will have to be signed. Besides, Moreno has not really impressed the Liverpool faithful since arriving from Sevilla, so fresh blood is yearned for regardless.
Hector is expected to cost £20m to convince Koln to part with their star man.
