Liverpool are set to reward some of their stars as a consequence of the team’s flying start to the season.

Having faced the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Leicester in their first seven games, Jürgen Klopp’s side have picked up 16 points and have mesmerised with their attacking play and work rate at times.

To that end, other clubs were always going to take notice and it hasn’t taken long for the “Philippe Coutinho to Paris Saint-Germain” rumours to surface again. Speculation was rife in the summer that the French giants would look to add Liverpool’s creative number ten to their ranks, but such talk turned out to be wide of the mark.

The reports have reared their ugly head once again (with talk of Barcelona interest thrown in for good measure), and the Mirror’s sister publication the Sunday People are today reporting that Liverpool will look to fend off any potential interest in the Brazilian international by handing him a big new contract.

The 24-year-old is the club’s joint-top scorer this season and is in terrific form, and although he still has over three years remaining on his current deal (having only signed it 18 months ago) Liverpool are apparently happy to significantly increase his pay due to the increased television revenue.

Adam Lallana is also in line to sign a new deal, as per the report. The England international is in easily his best form since signing for the club, thriving in a deeper role under Klopp this season and finally adding goals to his game.

His current contract expires in 2019 and although he has not been linked with any moves, Liverpool are apparently happy to reward him for his fantastic displays in the current campaign.

The final name mentioned is defender Dejan Lovren, which would have been met with frustrated groans as recently as twelve months ago.

The 27-year-old endured a torrid first season at Anfield following a £20m move from Southampton in 2014, but has settled brilliantly under Klopp and looks to be in the process of forming a formidable centre-back partnership with new signing Joel Matip.

The fact that the players’ contracts are not expiring in the short-term means that Liverpool can take their time with negotiations – nonetheless, from the players’ point of view they will be happy to see their fine work being acknowledged.
