Done Deal: Liverpool Confirm The Signing Of Chelsea Striker Dominic Solanke

during the UEFA Youth League final match FC Shakhtar Donetsk v Chelsea FC at Colovray on April 13, 2015 in Nyon, Switzerland.

Liverpool have confirmed their first signing of the summer, in the form of Chelsea striker Dominic Solanke.

News of the deal broke on multiple sources on Tuesday morning, but has finally been rubber-stamped by the club and Solanke will join on July 1st.

The 19-year-old, who can play either as a striker or anywhere along the attacking midfield line, moves to Anfield with a strong reputation, having become disenfranchised with a lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Indeed, he had made his intention to leave the club known from the early part of last season, leading to speculation linking him with moves to Arsenal and West Ham (among others).

In all, he made just one senior appearance (a substitute appearance in a Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev), while he spent the entirety of the 2015/16 season on loan in the Eredivisie with Vitesse, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances for the Dutch side.

Although he moves to Liverpool at the end of his contract, his age prohibits the Reds from signing him on a free transfer. As such, the fee will be settled by a tribunal and is expected to be in the region on £2-3m.

Solanke is currently in action with England at the Under-20 World Cup, and will officially join his new teammates at the start of July.
