It’s official – Liverpool now possess the most expensive goalkeeper of all time.
The Premier League side have confirmed the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker from AS Roma. The fee, previously reported as €75m all-in, will instead be worth a maximum of €72.5m (€62.5m + €10m in add-ons), as confirmed by the Serie A side.

The 25-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Anfield side, and comes with the express purpose of ousting Loris Karius as Liverpool’s undisputed number one goalkeeper.
Roma, who brought Alisson to Europe in a €7.5m deal in 2016, have already posted a goodbye message to their now-departed stopper, wishing him well in the new chapter of his career.

While the signing of Alisson is now safely over the line, Reds fans will have to wait that bit longer to see their new man in action. Having been part of Brazil’s World Cup squad, he is unlikely to take part in Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States, but should return to action for the friendly clash against Napoli in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on August 4th.
