Liverpool Fans In Champions League Dreamland After Crazy Night In Rome

van dijk

To give credit to Liverpool, they never do things the easy way.

Jurgen Klopp’s side did the necessary and qualified for the Champions League final, but somehow nearly threw away a four-goal aggregate lead in a crazy second half against Roma in the process.

The visitors went in 2-1 up at the break, with James Milner’s unfortunate own goal coming in between strikes from Sadio Mane and Gini Wijnaldum.

Edin Dzeko scored early in the second half to level it up, and that was the way it stayed until five minutes from time when Radja Nainggolan put Roma ahead on the night and gave the Italians a glimmer of hope of at least forcing extra time.

That glimmer grew brighter deep into stoppage time when Ragnar Klavan was adjudged to have handled in the box. Nainggolan scored his second of the match, Roma made it 6-7 on aggregate – but the headline is not the match itself, it’s that Liverpool are in the European Cup final for the eighth time.

Liverpool, as if you needed reminding, will now face Real Madrid in the final in Kiev on May 26th.
