Lionel Messi Scores Wonderful Goal To End His ‘El Clasico’ Drought

Lionel Messi has brought Barcelona level with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Barca found themselves one down after 28 minutes into the crunch La Liga clash, thanks to a scrappy goal from Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. However, the Argentine maestro tied the game up with a far more aesthetically pleasing effort just five minutes later.

After a nice passing move from the Catalan side, Messi picked the ball up on the edge of the box before gliding through the Madrid defence with majestic ease and slotting the ball low past Keylor Navas.

According to the Sky Sports commentary team, Messi had actually failed to score in the last six meetings between Spain’s most successful sides. What a way this was to end his ‘El Clasico’ drought.

It was still 1-1 when the sides went in for the half-time break.

At present, Real are three points ahead of Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table and Zinedine Zidane’s men also have a game in hand.

Update: Barcelona prevailed 3-2 thanks to an injury time winner from…you guessed it, Lionel Messi.
