Lack Of Bulbs In Floodlights Causes League Of Ireland Game To Be Postponed

The League of Ireland Premier Division rumbles onto its second game week tonight, with some heavyweight clashes taking place around the country. Meanwhile, Division 1 gets underway, with the three relegated teams from last year eager to bounce straight back up to the top tier.

Cabinteely host Wexford, Galway United entertain Athlone Town while Shelbourne travel to UCD. The fourth fixture of the evening was Finn Harps’ trip to Drogheda United.

However, in the run-up to kick-off, the game was postponed due to the floodlights lacking strength.

It appears that there weren’t enough bulbs in the lights, and therefore the pitch wasn’t adequately lit.

Frustrated fans took a dim view of the situation…

This is a stuttering start to the season for the Louth and Donegal outfits.

Drogs now wait until next Friday for their trip to Tolka Park to play Shelbourne, while Finn Harps will open their season at home to Longford Town.
