Monday saw plenty of transfers in the League of Ireland as a number of clubs bolstered their ranks for the second half of the campaign.
To Dundalk first, where the Premier Division league leaders have made two big additions – including the return of Patrick McEleney. The midfielder returns on a long-term deal just six months after he left Oriel Park for Oldham Athletic, with the fee undisclosed.
The Lilywhites have also confirmed the arrival of Georgie Kelly from First Division leaders UCD. The 21-year-old has been in terrific form for his side this season, scoring 14 goals in 17 games, and his departure will almost certainly have wider consequences for the First Division title race.
To Inchicore next, where St. Patrick’s Athletic have recruited a pair of former Limerick players. Goalkeeper Brendan Clarke returns for his third spell at the club, having left to join Limerick at the end of the 2016 season. Clarke, a member of St. Pats’ title-winning squad in 2013, returns to Dublin having announced his Limerick departure at the weekend.
Also swapping Markets Field for Richmond Park is midfielder Conor Clifford. The former Chelsea and Dundalk only joined the Super Blues in April but recent financial issues have seen a number of first-team players leave the club.
On the way out of St. Pat’s, meanwhile, is goalkeeper Tyson Farago, who has left by mutual consent ahead of a move to Winnipeg.

Derry City have signed a new defender in the form of Danny Seaborne. The well-travelled 31-year-old centre-half, formerly of Southampton, has joined the Candystripes after his release from Exeter City at the end of last season.

Waterford FC, who have already made some impressive moves in this window with Noe Baba, Dessie Hutchinson and Noel Hunt, as well as a loan extension for Courtney Duffus, have confirmed the signing of Angola international midfielder Carlos ‘Rudy’ Wilson. The 29-year-old, formerly of Deportivo La Coruna, has arrived at the RSC at Alan Reynolds’ side look to maintain their push for Europe.
