Since the opening of the January transfer window, the only consistent rumour linking Manchester United with a winter deal has surrounded Lazio’s Felipe Anderson.
Although reports earlier in the month had suggested that the deal was close to being done, it now transpires that United have yet to launch a January bid for the midfielder.
Speaking with Mediaset Premium, Lazio’s director of Sport Igli Tare said that the United interest was real and that they had already rejected a bid for €50m for the 22-year-old. However, that bid was made way back in August and Ed Woodward has yet to take action in winter window.
“So far we haven’t received anything from Manchester United. He is going through a negative period of form and he knows that, we talked a great deal.
“He has to find his calm, he is a player who is now well-known and feared. He has what it takes to emerge from this negative moment.
“We turned down a €50m offer from Manchester United on August 27 and nothing has changed since then, because if he finds consistency, then he’s worth much more.
“We also resisted bigger offers than that, but we have targets to achieve.”
