Journalist Claims ‘Reliable’ Source Has Told Him Why Mourinho Is Ignoring Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Manchester United

After Henrikh Mkhitaryan was once again left out of Jose Mourinho’s squad for Manchester United’s EFL cup clash with Manchester City last night, fans have finally become impatient with regard to the 27-year-old’s situation.

Before, during, and after United’s 1-0 victory over their local rivals on Wednesday evening, fans of the Red Devils took to Twitter in baffled confusion as Henrikh Mkhitaryan was once again, no where to be seen.

The 27-year-old has been fully fit for a number of weeks now yet, for some unknown reason, Mourinho seems to be completely ignoring one of his marquee summer signings.

Speaking after United’s 4-1 win over Fenerbahce last week, the former Chelsea manager claimed that he had not included Mkhitaryan in the squad as he did not believe the attacking midfielder was capable of the intensity he required from his players.

However, according to journalist Pilib de Brun, Mkhitaryan’s level of fitness is very much secondary with regard to why Mourinho is now excluding him from his match day squads.

Speaking about the former Borussia Dortmund man’s situation, the TalkSport contributor explained that Manchester United’s new man in charge is in fact extremely frustrated with Mkhitaryan for not putting enough effort into his recovery training having been injured on international duty last month.

De Brun also dropped some massive news with regard to Wayne Rooney’s future and how Mourinho feels the squad still needs a massive overhaul in the coming two transfer windows.

”From what I’ve been told from someone who I would consider to be very reliable, Mourinho has told Paul Stretford, Rooney’s agent that, if Rooney wants regular football he’s going to have to leave Manchester United to get it…

Some other information, Mourinho has been frustrated with Mkhitaryan and his application to his rehabilitation. He’s been disappointed. Supposedly he [Mkhitaryan] hasn’t been taking it as seriously as Mourinho would have liked.”
