Jamie Carragher has been taken off Sky Sports tonight after a video emerged of him reacting to taunts by spitting at a girl and her father in the aftermath of Manchester United’s win over Liverpool.
The former Reds defender last night took to Twitter to apologise for the incident, saying that he deeply regretted his actions.
Totally out of order & Ive apologised personally to all the family this evening. I was goaded 3/4 times along the motorway while being filmed & lost my rag. No excuse apologies. https://t.co/ofrNfiwhYH

This afternoon, Carragher appeared on Sky News and apologised once again for the incident.
“It (spitting) is the lowest of the low. Whenever I was brought up as a kid, spitting was that. I’ve never done it before. I can assure you I’ll never do it again. But right now the only thing I can do is come on here, apologise, and try and get back to the person I know I am.”
