James McCarthy is facing a long road to recovery, after suffering a double leg break while playing against West Brom last weekend. The Ireland midfielder is following the path of club and international teammate Séamus Coleman, who made his comeback for the Everton U23 team last night.
McCarthy will not feature again this season, as he aims to make the recovery process as quick as possible in the coming months.
Today, he provided an update from the hospital after his operation.
“Just a quick message to say that my operation went well, thanks to all the staff involved! ? and a big thanks to all my family, friends and Olivia? Also cheers for all the messages, I appreciate it ??”
McCarthy will be eager to get working on his rehab, and a quick turnaround could see him play a role, on or off the field, in Ireland’s UEFA Nations League campaign at the end of 2018. The Boys in Green were today drawn in a group with Denmark and Wales, playing four games home and away.
It’s great to see that the operation was a success, and here’s hoping that James McCarthy will be back on the football field as soon as possible.
