Arsenal fans have been waiting for developments on their side’s pursuit of Shkodran Mustafi.

Throughout the last two weeks, Arsenal fans have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new centre half to bolster a defence that was easily exposed by Liverpool on the opening day of the season.

However, although Arsenal have been consistently been linked with a move for Shkodran Mustafi, any deal bringing the Valencia defender to the Emirates Stadium appeared to be moving very slowly.

Indeed, at times it it seemed as though the transfer was destined to fail, as Arsenal were linked with numerous alternatives ranging from West Brom’s Jonny Evans to Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez.

Nevertheless, throughout that time it was apparent that Arsenal were at least negotiating with Valencia, albeit very slowly.

In fact, it would now appear that the end game in the Mustafi transfer is in sight, after Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, revealed how much Arsenal have offered for the defender.

Before Arsenal fans get excited however, it must be realised that Valencia have yet to accept the offer. Instead, Giulianelli believes they are holding out for a counter offer before deciding to accept Arsenal’s bid for the player.

Nevertheless, if all goes to plan, Giulianelli believes Arsenal will complete the signing of Mustafi for a combined fee of £24.3 million on Wednesday.
