Don’t try doing this trick during a Sunday morning kick about…
Irish footballers aren’t too synonymous with flashy tricks and skills. We prefer a “chuck it up the field” approach to one filled with Cruyff turns or Pannas.
But Republic of Ireland international Shane Long has been showing off some potentially ball-busting tricks on Southampton’s pre-season tour. Appropriately, Long pulled this out in Holland, a country renowned for elite street skills football.

Now we just need EA Sports to make a “FIFA Street” reboot. A team of Darren Randolph, Cyrus Christie, Robbie Brady/Jeff Hendrick and Long anyone?

Long is currently preparing for a busy season ahead following his escapades at Euro 2016 with Ireland over the summer, which culminated in a last 16 appearance against France.
His focus will now very much be on club action once more however, with the Saints competing both in Europe and domestically this term once they have finished off their pre-season campaign with games against FC Twente, Groningen, Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao all to come.
