With so many injuries to contend with once again, Ireland boss Martin O’Neill has been forced into selecting a less than familiar XI.

Following the huge blow that was Seamus Coleman’s injury versus Wales last Friday the first place most fans will likely look to on tonight’s team sheet is to see who has filled in for the Donegal man.

That mantel will, for the time being, be taken up by Cyrus Christie, who slots into defence alongside debutant John Egan, Alex Pearce and first time captain Robbie Brady.

In the middle, a first senior outing is also handed to Egan’s fellow Corkman Conor Hourihane, alongside the in-form Aiden McGeady, Jeff Hendrick, Aberdeen’s Jonny Hayes and James McClean.

Up front Kevin Doyle returns to complete the lineup.

The Ireland XI to take on Iceland:

Kick-off at the Aviva Stadium is at 7:45pm.
