Martin O’Neill has confirmed a 26-man Ireland squad for the upcoming friendly internationals against France and USA.
Having initially named a 40-man provisional panel for the series last week, which at the time also included last weekend’s clash against Celtic for Scott Brown’s testimonial, O’Neill has restructured the squad, with a number of players ruled out through injury.
Darren Randolph, Sean Maguire, Keiren Westwood and Kieran O’Hara have all had to pull out through injury, while Callum Robinson is still awaiting international clearance to feature in an official Ireland squad.
Aston Villa trio Glenn Whelan, Conor Hourinahe and Scott Hogan, who had been included in the initial squad, have withdrawn as they prepare for Saturday’s Championship play-off final, as is Fulham’s Cyrus Christie. Derby County’s Richard Keogh have also been released from international duty despite their club’s semi-final exit.
The final group means that Conor O’Malley, Shaun Williams and Graham Burke have now received official Ireland call-ups for the first time. So too has Bohemians goalkeeper Shane Supple, whose call-up was confirmed earlier in the week.
