The Republic of Ireland now know which country stands between them and qualification for next year’s World Cup in Russia.
The draw took place in Switzerland on Tuesday afternoon with Ireland boss Martin O’Neill in attendance – and he bore witness as the Boys in Green discovered that they will be facing Denmark next month.
Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland, meanwhile, were also on the unseeded side of the draw after slipping in the FIFA World rankings at just the wrong time, and they will come up against Switzerland as they look to reach the World Cup finals for the first time since 1986.
The other ties will see Croatia face Greece, and

Croatia v Greece
Denmark v Republic of Ireland
Sweden v Italy
The fixtures will be played in November, with the first legs taking place between the 9th and 11th, and the following legs taking place between the 12th and 14th.
