Chelsea Prepared To Sell Playmaker To Inter For €35m [Report]

Serie A side Inter have made an enquiry for Chelsea playmaker Oscar, according to a report in Italy.

The Brazilian international is one of a number of players facing an uncertain future under new Blues manager Antonio Conte, and, as per Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter have tested the waters by sounding Chelsea out as to his availability.

Further reports on Monday alleged that Chelsea would be prepared to do business for a fee of €35m.

Juventus were strongly linked with Oscar last summer, even seeing a £20m bid rejected at one stage, and while they are reportedly still interested in the player, Inter’s pursuit would appear to be that bit more concrete at this point.

Oscar arrived at Chelsea from Brazilian side Internacional in a £19m deal in 2012. In four years at Stamford Bridge, he has made almost 200 appearances, but his position at the club has not been entirely secure recently. He, like fellow stars Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, was the subject of fans’ ire last December, with many believing that their dip in form ultimately cost manager José Mourinho his job.

As such, his departure would not be met with total dismay from the supporters if it were to happen.

Inter have been relatively quiet in the transfer market thus far as the owners attempt to take a frugal approach. Dodo and Marcelo Brozovic have seen their loan moves made permanent for a combined fee of around €13m while Ever Banega and Caner Erkin have arrived at the San Siro on free transfers.

However, Lazio winger Antonio Candreva is due to sign for €25m in the coming days – what impact this will ultimately have on their pursuit of Oscar remains to be seen.
