A few day ago Jurgen Klopp warned Pep Guardiola that the hectic schedule of English football is the hardest thing to adapt to.
“When I came here, I didn’t know there were two rounds in the semifinal of the Capital One Cup. I had people in Germany last week saying; ‘Yeah, you’re in the final again!’
“That’s the thing, the number of games — football, football, football,” he said. “With a perfect preseason you are prepared for a long, long journey. We knew about it, but to feel it is different.” Source: The Guardian.
After defeating Stoke in the first round, the number of players on the Liverpool injury list increases once more.
As a result they were forced to play more or less their youth team in the following fixture against Exeter in the FA Cup third round. This resulted in a 2-2 draw.
The amount of players injured for the Reds now amounts to a full starting XI; and if you were to choose between the two, you’d probably go for the injured XI.
Let’s take a look here. First up is the injured XI.
Now consider the current starting XI.
